This grouping of works within the Mobile Makers features a selection of paintings by some of Mobile’s leading artists. All of the works are owned by the Order of Myths (OOMs), the oldest parading society not only of Carnival, but also within the national. The OOMs have arguably the finest collection of artworks by late 20th and 21st Century Mobile artists. These important paintings are on special loan to the Mobile Carnival Museum. Each year, the OOMs commission a new work to add to their collection. As you can see, most of the works feature OOMs’ emblem of Folly and Death. The painting of a given year is reproduced on the Order of Myths’ annual Sunday Party invitation.
